However, this project faced a sudden and severe disruption: after the vessel had already arrived and berthed, the vehicles sustained damage during the transfer from the port storage area to the vessel.
The cause was adverse weather—heavy rain created slippery conditions at the terminal, resulting in partial damage to multiple units during transport. While the incident was beyond FGL’s control, the impact was immediate and severe: the consolidation window was compressed to an extraordinarily narrow timeframe. The team worked through the night on emergency repairs in coordination with the manufacturer’s ground team, racing against the clock to restore the vehicles to ship-ready condition before loading could even begin.
The pressure cascaded relentlessly. In a matter of hours, every link in the chain had to perform with precision: the trucking fleet ferrying vehicles from Qingdao to Weifang; the FAW on-site crew receiving, inspecting, and arranging temporary staging, all while orchestrating overnight emergency repairs; and customs brokers sprinting to complete last mile clearance. This was a tightly choreographed operation where a single delay would have triggered costly vessel idle time and hefty detention penalties.
The Solution: Proactive Communication and Dynamic Planning

Dynamic Stowage Collaboration with the Shipping Line:
Days before the vessel’s arrival, FGL established daily communication with the shipping line, providing detailed cargo specifications—including dimensions, weights, center-of-gravity data, photographs, and stowage diagrams. The shipping line agreed to an elastic stowage plan with multiple loading scenarios (Plan A/B/C), enabling real-time adjustments based on the actual sequence of cargo arrival and terminal conditions.
FGL also secured the shipping line’s commitment to wait within a safe operational window by presenting a detailed consolidation plan that demonstrated the team’s professionalism and reliability.
Precision Fleet Dispatching: The team carefully staggered truck arrival times to prevent congestion at the port, ensuring a smooth and orderly flow of vehicles into the consolidation area.
Advanced Customs Clearance: All documentation was pre-vetted, and the customs declaration process was initiated while the cargo was still in transit. Leveraging the “advance declaration” model, customs release instructions were substantially in place by the time the vehicles arrived at the port.

• Seamless Integration: All vehicles were consolidated and loaded within the extremely compressed window immediately following the vessel’s berthing.
