Port Klang, Malaysia – Focus Global Logistics (FGL) has successfully delivered 621 tonnes of coffee from Malaysia to Uzbekistan using a sea-rail multi-modal transport solution, marking a significant milestone in cross-continental supply chain efficiency.
The shipment, consisting of 27 forty-foot high-cube containers (40HQ) with a total weight of 621 tonnes, departed from Port Klang, Malaysia, on March 15, 2026. The cargo traveled by sea to Tianjin, China, before transferring to rail for the final leg to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Shipping coffee presents unique logistical challenges. The commodity requires high standards of container integrity, including impeccable sanitation, complete odorlessness, and zero leakage. Any contamination can ruin the beans’ delicate flavor profile, making quality control paramount. FGL addressed these challenges by exclusively offering Grade A food-grade containers at Port Klang. The company implemented rigorous container screening protocols to ensure compliance with international food transport hygiene standards.
“Coffee is a sensitive product that demands absolute cleanliness and protection throughout its journey,” said a senior operations manager at FGL. “Our dedicated yard allows customers to inspect containers on-site before loading, providing direct confirmation of their condition and peace of mind from start to finish.”
Beyond container quality, FGL’s stable space resources enabled advance booking, completely resolving the space shortages that often plague multi-modal routes during peak seasons. This proactive approach ensured a smooth, uninterrupted transportation process for the client.
Sea-rail combined multi-modal transportation is rapidly gaining popularity across Eurasia due to its cost-efficiency. Compared to air freight, sea-rail offers substantial savings; compared to all-sea routes, it significantly reduces transit time. The Malaysia-China-Uzbekistan corridor exemplifies this balance, connecting Southeast Asian producers with Central Asian markets via China’s extensive rail network. As global supply chains seek resilient alternatives to single-mode transport, FGL’s successful coffee delivery highlights the reliability and scalability of integrated sea-rail solutions for specialty commodities.
