FGL Successfully Executes Sea-Rail Multimodal Transport for Spice and Medicine from Mundra to Tashkent

June 24, 2026

Focus Global Logistics (FGL), has completed a complex sea-rail multimodal transport operation, moving 46 tons of spices and pharmaceutical products from Mundra, India, to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The shipment, comprising two 40-foot High Cube (40HQ) containers, underscores FGL’s expertise in navigating intricate cross-border supply chains and delivering seamless solutions for temperature-sensitive and high-value cargo.

Transportation: Ocean + Railway

POL: Mundra, India

POD: Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Commodity: Spice and medicine

Weight: 46 tons

Container: 40HQ*2

Transit time: 40-45 days

Project time: April 2026

The consignment departed from the Port of Mundra, India’s largest commercial port, in early April 2026, utilizing ocean freight for the initial leg before transitioning to the railway network for the overland journey to the Uzbek capital. While the sea-rail corridor offers a cost-effective and efficient alternative to pure air or road transport, it is often fraught with operational hurdles—particularly for clients unfamiliar with the specific regulatory and procedural nuances of the Indian railway system.

Recognizing the client’s limited experience with Indian rail protocols, FGL proactively implemented a series of strategic measures to ensure supply chain integrity. The primary challenge involved the risk of inefficient cargo transshipment and potential delays caused by non-compliance with local railway packing specifications. To mitigate this, FGL developed and provided comprehensive English-language versions of all railway packing and stowage guidelines. This proactive communication tool enabled the client to liaise effectively with Indian rail authorities and handling agents, eliminating ambiguity and preventing hold-ups that often arise from documentation or packaging discrepancies.

Furthermore, FGL leveraged its unique direct transport model, which orchestrates the entire journey without the need for intermediate transshipment. By managing the process end-to-end, the company significantly reduced the risks of cargo damage, contamination, and port-side congestion—critical factors when handling consumable goods like spices and sensitive pharmaceutical products. This single-carrier responsibility not only accelerated transit times but also provided the client with real-time visibility and greater peace of mind.

“Our ability to eliminate transshipment points is a game-changer for clients moving sensitive commodities,” said a senior representative from FGL. “By combining our direct routing with localized expertise, we turn a potentially fragmented logistics chain into a smooth, predictable operation.”

In addition to its operational agility, FGL offers flexible equipment solutions, including Shipper-Owned Container (SOC) services at India’s three major gateways: Mundra, New Delhi, and Nhava Sheva. This capability allows clients to avoid container detention and demurrage charges, further optimizing cost efficiency.
