Multimodal Cross-border Railway Transportation Case Study

February 12, 2025

In November 2024, a significant logistics operation was executed from Huaihua, Hunan to Hanoi, Vietnam, showcasing the efficiency and reliability of combined rail and truck transportation. This case highlights our advantages in careful cargo handling, maintaining the same container throughout the journey, and offering relatively lower rates compared to ocean freight.

Our advantages:

  1. Careful handling of cargo loading to the truck;
  2. Same container from the origin to destination;
  3. Relatively lower rate compared with the ocean freight.

Case background

Transportation: Rail+Truck

Term: EXW

POL: Huaihua, Hunan

POD: Hanoi, Vietnam

Container: 40HQ *3

T/T: 15 days

Time: November, 2024

Process and Challenges:

  1. Pick up the cargo from Huaihua factory by truck and deliver to the railway station;
  2. Process the customs declaration;
  3. Ship the container to the Hanoi railway station.

As a professional one-stop international logistics provider, confirm the cargos fixation is a must before the container door shut down and sealed. For this shipment, we use a belt to fix the packages in case it fell out while opening the door after arriving to the destination.

Meanwhile, we use the same container from the origin to destination, which not only streamlined the process but also minimized potential losses in time and expenses that could arise from changing containers. This method ensured a seamless transition across borders, completing the entire transport in just 15 days. As a professional one-stop international logistics provider, we prioritize the safety and integrity of the cargo above all. By leveraging the strengths of both rail and road transport, this operation demonstrated an efficient alternative to traditional ocean freight, proving especially beneficial for time-sensitive shipments between China and Vietnam.
