Bulk liquid container Shipping
On August 4, 2025, a critical sea freight shipment will depart from Shekou Port, China, destined for Hai Phong Port in Vietnam under CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) terms. The cargo consists of plasticizer, a key chemical used in the manufacturing of flexible plastics, transported in a specialized configuration: five 20-foot general-purpose (20GP) containers, each equipped with a liquid bag. This method allows for efficient bulk liquid transport but demands strict operational control.
The process begins with the proper placement of a heavy-duty liquid bag inside each container. Once secured, the bag is filled with the plasticizer. Any flaw in container selection, bag installation, or filling procedure can lead to serious issues such as container bulging or, worse, liquid leakage—posing environmental, safety, and financial risks. Therefore, close monitoring throughout the entire process is essential.

Challenges:
1. Space booking and stowage.
Liquid bag containers must be loaded on deck due to safety and ventilation requirements, which necessitates early coordination with the shipping line. The commercial and booking teams must proactively secure on-deck space, as availability can be limited and highly competitive.
2. Container pickup and selection.
Equally demanding is the container pickup and selection process. Only food-grade, clean, and undamaged 20GP containers are acceptable to ensure product integrity. The customer service team collaborates closely with the trucking company to inspect containers at the yard. To avoid congestion, pickups are scheduled during off-peak hours—early mornings or late evenings. Customer service personnel often work overtime to promptly assess and report container conditions to the client, ensuring timely decisions and smooth operations.
This shipment exemplifies the intricate coordination required in specialized freight logistics, where technical precision, teamwork, and proactive planning are vital to success.
