In a remarkable feat of logistics efficiency, three oversized BBK ( Break Bulk) cargoes were successfully transported from China to Jakarta in just three days, overcoming multiple challenges to meet a tight deadline. The shipment, executed under CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) terms, originated from Nansha Port (POL) and arrived at Jakarta Port (POD) on June 17, 2025, marking the successful completion of a high-pressure project.
Transportation: Sea freight
Term: CIF
POL: NANSHA
POD: JAKARTA
Carrier: COSCO
Container:8x40FR
Commodity: Kiln shell part+sector cooler upper part
Weight: 52T
T/T: 2 weeks
Time: 2025.06.11
A Complex and High-Stakes Operation
The shipment, which commenced on June 11, 2025, involved multiple complexities:
- Multiple Pickup Locations: The cargoes were collected from different factories in Jiangsu and Guangdong, requiring seamless coordination to consolidate them onto the same vessel.
- Oversized and Overweight Cargoes: The BBK units were exceptionally large, demanding specialized handling and equipment, they were separated into eight 40FR containers at last.
- Tight Schedule: With only two weeks from order confirmation to delivery, time was a critical constraint.
While other freight forwarders hesitated due to the short estimated time of arrival (ETA), our team sprang into action within hours of receiving the inquiry. Recognizing the urgency, we devised a strategic plan to separate the oversized equipment and utilize hoisting machinery to meet the deadline.
Precision and Proactive Problem-Solving
To ensure accuracy and compliance with cargo specifications, our team took unprecedented measures:
- On-Site Supervision: Engineers rushed to the customer’s factory to verify cargo dimensions and lifting points in real time, cross-checking data with both the manufacturer and terminal operators.
- Continuous Coordination: We maintained constant communication with COSCO and port authorities to finalize the lifting plan and expedite cargo release.
Thanks to these efforts, we secured warehouse space for all three BBKs within three days and completed cargo release eight hours ahead of the loading deadline. Additionally, we arranged last-minute dispatchers and loading supervision to guarantee smooth operations.
A Race Against Time at the Port
On June 10, just before departure, a critical hurdle emerged: one BBK was held up due to customs clearance delays. With the vessel already docked, the situation was dire. However, through close collaboration with the client, customs clearance was finalized just 30 minutes after the ship’s arrival, allowing loading to proceed without further delay.
The moment the cargo was successfully hoisted onto the vessel, the team breathed a collective sigh of relief. The intense pressure of the preceding two weeks melted away, replaced by a profound sense of accomplishment.
Mission Accomplished
On June 17, the cargoes were officially unloaded in Jakarta, concluding the project with zero delays. This achievement underscores our ability to handle high-stakes logistics challenges through meticulous planning, rapid response, and unwavering commitment to client needs.
