BBK Boarding bridge shipping from Shanghai to Malaysia

In a complex and meticulously planned logistics operation, a specialized boarding bridge and its components were successfully transported from Shanghai, China, to Miri Airport in Malaysia via break bulk shipping. The shipment, which included oversized and heavy cargo, required a tailored approach to ensure safe and timely delivery under DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) terms.

BBK Boarding bridge shipping from Shanghai to Malaysia

 Project Overview

The cargo, consisting of seven major components, was transported via sea freight from Shanghai Port to Bintulu Port, Malaysia, with a transit time of 12 days. Due to the absence of direct break bulk shipping services to Miri, the logistics team devised a multi-stage transportation plan:

1. Break Bulk Shipping from Shanghai to Bintulu Port – The cargo was loaded onto a specialized break bulk vessel, capable of handling oversized and heavy shipments.

2. Final Delivery to Miri Airport – After arriving in Bintulu, the cargo was transported overland to Miri Airport, where it was unloaded with the help of local agents and customs clearance support.

Key Challenges & Solutions

- Oversized Cargo Handling: One of the key components, the BL06A Series Tunnel, measured 16,400 x 3,680 x 3,950 mm and weighed 21,500 kg, requiring specialized loading and securing procedures.

- Customs Compliance: Since the customer required a single customs declaration, the logistics team ensured all documentation was consolidated for seamless clearance.

- Airport Access Coordination: The team worked closely with the consignee and local authorities to secure an airport access permit, enabling smooth unloading at Miri Airport.
